Winter Dissertation House – Coming January 22-25, 2013

Join us for the Winter Dissertation House at UMBC.  Applications are due by December 14, 2012.


winter house smallIf you are a Graduate Student at UMBC, and if you are working on your  graduate school courses, proposal, or dissertation, then this event is for you!The on-campus setting provides Dissertation House participants with productive and rewarding scholastic engagement. Students who participate in this program will spend each day thinking, writing, and sharing ideas about their doctoral dissertations. Students will learn effective time-management skills; learn how to set small manageable goals, and will meet with a dissertation coach in one-on-one consultations to discuss and address obstacles that might prevent them completing their degrees.This is a weekday (9 a.m. – 5 p.m., non-residential) commitment set for the week of Tuesday, January 22 – Friday, January 25, 2013.This information and other details about the Dissertation House can be found on: http://www.thedissertationhouse.com
Students from other schools within the University System of Maryland may apply and will be considered if there are spaces available.

About Renetta Garrison Tull

Dr. Renetta Garrison Tull is the Associate Vice Provost for Graduate Student Development & Postdoctoral Affairs at the UMBC: An Honors University in Maryland (http://www.umbc.edu), and the Director of PROMISE: Maryland’s Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP) – http://www.umbc.edu/promise. The PROMISE AGEP includes alliance members: UMBC, the University of Maryland Baltimore, and the University of Maryland College Park. She is passionate about training postdocs for careers, cultivating new graduate students in the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields, retention of all graduate students, and Ph.D. Completion.     Goals for the next two days:
    1- Finish the proposal for essay 1 of the dissertation
    2- Get 50% of the proposal done for the second essay
    3- Write an introduction to tie essay 1 and essay 2 and possible essay 3.

    PS- I am working on a three essay dissertation on labor market regulations in developing countries.
